Our preschool is run by EPPS (Errington Preschool Parents Society). The EPPS joined the Vancouver Island Cooperative Preschool Association (VICPA) in 1993 and has maintained and valued its membership with this 70 year old association ever since. Our preschool has been gifted with Gillian Crawley, who has been the ECE at the preschool for over 30 years. Gillian has shaped an exceptional program.

The preschool is a cooperative which is based upon parent participation and volunteerism.  It is believed that a parent is a child’s first teacher, and it is natural for the child to go with their first teacher into this environment, and here that is acknowledged and supported.

The school is a place where preschool children learn to play and get along with other children of the same age group.  It is a place where there is time and space to use equipment not always available at home.  Also, it is a place where adults learn to understand children’s needs.

Parents cooperate through their in-class participation (Duty Days), and by holding a job that helps the preschool operate. Jobs could be as an executive member or one of many in-house jobs. We all work together in assisting with fundraising events and take part in monthly parent education, which is a requirement of the cooperative preschool license.
